Obituary

Saratoga Springs – A. Roger Ruefer, formerly of Mahwah, NJ, passed away on the evening of September 21, 2017 at Saratoga Hospital. He is the son of the late Al and Marge Ruefer.

Roger lived a proud life. He was a WWII Veteran with the U.S. Army and a graduate of the University of Florida where he played on their football team. He loved horses. Roger taught horseback riding to children and also rode in the rodeo with Roy Rogers. Before retirement he was a sales, office, and traffic manager for Moreng Metal Products and Moreng Telecom in Totowa, NJ.

Survivors include his two children, Stuart Ruefer of Virginia, and Barbara Murphy of Cambridge, NY, three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, a brother and sister, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Roger is predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Marion and a grandson.

A memorial service will be celebrated on Friday, September 29, 2017 at 2pm at St. Paul's Lutheran Church (149 Lake Avenue, Saratoga Springs) with military honors to follow.

In lieu of flowers, Roger wished for memorial donation to be made to the New York State Military Museum and Veteran's Research Center (61 Lake Avenue, Saratoga Springs) or the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Northeast New York (3 Washington Square, Albany, NY).
