Saratoga Springs, NY - Adele Agnes Wait Sahlberg, passed away Saturday (Mar. 20, 2010) at the Wesley Health Care Center, Lawrence Street, after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. She was 81. Born on Sept. 19, 1928 in Saratoga Springs, she was the third child of the late John Emerson and Adele (LeClair) Wait. She was a 1948 graduate of St. Peter's Academy on Broadway and worked for several years as a long distance operator for the New York Telephone Company. She met and married Adelbert Hayden Sahlberg on Dec. 5, 1948; he was attending college after recently returning as a World War Two European War veteran. It was her nature to help those who were in need and spent considerable time in this work. She was also involved in a number of different organizations, such as Cub Scouts and assisted children that had reading problems. They had five sons, three of whom died in infancy; Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Adelbert H. Sahlberg; two sons, William Hayden (wife, Janet) Sahlberg of Coopersville, MI and Richard Gerard (wife, Donna) Sahlberg of Reno, NV; three grandchildren, Michael (wife, Tami), Benjamin and Matthew Sahlberg, all of Grand Rapids, MI. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am Tuesday in St. Clement's Church, 231 Lake Avenue.
