Fort Edward, NY- With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our cherished Agatha DeRidder, 79, on May 8, 2024.

Agatha was born on May 4, 1945, the beloved daughter of Jean and Peter Scavone. Her life was a shining example of compassion, generosity, and unconditional love. Agatha's joy for music and zest for life left an unforgettable mark on all who knew her.

Agatha's love story with her childhood sweetheart and junior high love, John DeRidder, spanned over 58 years. Their marriage was a testament to true love and partnership. Together, they built a family grounded in love and support.

A devoted mother and guiding light to her children, Agatha inspired Louis and Traci DeRidder, Melissa and Gary Birch, Bonnie and Marcus Hart, and Aussie and Donna Trainor to lead lives of integrity, grit, and compassion. Agatha's grandchildren, Louie Jr., Megan, Bradley, Bryce, Isabella, Amelia, and Austin, held a special place in her heart. Her time with them was filled with laughter, support, wisdom, and warm embraces.

Agatha's family and friends will remember her for her radiant smile, strong will, strong opinions, her famous Italian feasts, gentle spirit, and love of music and animals. Her ability to make everyone feel cherished, loved, and touched every day will leave an everlasting impact.

In addition to her husband, children, and grandchildren, Agatha is survived by her brother Peter Scavone, nieces, nephews, and many friends who will miss her dearly. Her presence was a blessing, and her memory will forever be cherished.

A celebration of Agatha's life will be held on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at the family residence in Wilton at 5:00 pm. A burial at St. Peter's Cemetery, West Ave. Saratoga Springs will be Monday, May 20, 2024 at 12:00 pm. Arrangements are under the direction of the William J. Burke & Sons/ Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Home, 628 N. Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.

The family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Jude's Childrens Research Hospital in Agatha's memory.
