Obituary

Burnt Hills, NY - Agnes Marcellus of Burnt Hills, N.Y., was welcomed into the arms of the Lord on May 11, 2010. She was 90 years young. Born Agnes Marie Cherry on July 11, 1919, in Saratoga Springs, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Frances (Sesselman) Cherry. She graduated from Saratoga High School and Brady Maternity Nursing School in Albany. She was a private baby nurse in a number of homes in and around New York City. After marrying the love of her life, Hank in 1945, she worked at the family's Dutch Oven Bakery in Scotia where they also ran a catering business. Later she was a bookkeeper at several local companies until retirement. Agnes loved playing cards, bingo, visiting area casinos, going to breakfast and lunch, and was an avid Mets fan. She was loved deeply by all her family and friends. She had a zest for life, a positive outlook, and was truly an inspiration to everyone around her. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Henry Marcellus in 1986; her brother, Frank Cherry, Jr., and sisters Margaret Bilinski of Saratoga and Helen Lewis of Arizona. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Reuben Weinstein of Glenville; grandson Steven Weinstein of Naples, Florida; sister Mary Eichler of Wilton; and several loving nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 6pm Tuesday (May 18, 2010) at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs 584-5373. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am Wednesday (May 19, 2010) in St. Clement's Church, 231 Lake Ave., Saratoga Springs. Burial will be in the family plot at St. Peter's Cemetery, West Avenue. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105. (web site: stjude.org).
