Saratoga Springs, NY - Albert John (Joseph) Dewey Jr, 73, passed away peacefully of natural causes in Saratoga Springs on December 11, 2023.

Albert was born April 5, 1950, in Sidney Center, NY to the late, Albert Sr. and Madine Dewey.  He graduated from Sidney High School in 1968, where he was an all-state wrestler, he went on to enlist in the Unites States Army in January of 1969. Albert was stationed in Germany where he served as Military Police. He was discharged in 1971 with a Meritorious Service Medal. He received his A.A.S. in Criminal Justice from Hudson Valley Community College in May of 1974. He went on to serve as a patrolman for the NYS Park Police until 1975. Al would go on to earn the honor of becoming a Saratoga County Sheriff's Deputy where he served the County proudly for almost 20 years, before becoming the Director of Emergency Services, where he played a major role in the development of the 911 system throughout the County.

While his public service career was admirable, his family was his greatest source of pride. In 1970, while on leave from the military he met his future wife, Kathleen. They would go on to marry in 1974 and spend 47 wonderful years together until her death in 2021. Albert is survived by his two daughters, Meaghan E. Dewey of Saratoga Springs and Kaitlin L. Romano of Georgia. Albert leaves behind his pride & joy, his 4 grandchildren; Ava Marie McNeil, Trey Alexander McNeil & Sean Albert McNeil (Meaghan) and Sooni Lee Romano (Kaitlin). He is also survived by his brothers Gerald Dewey (Marla) of Columbus, Georgia and Delzon Hodges (Lynne) also of Georgia, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces & grandnephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am, Thursday, December 21 at St. Clement's Church, 231 Lake Ave Saratoga Springs.

Burial with military honors will follow at 11:30am at the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd. Schuylerville, NY.
