Saratoga Springs – Albert Kenneth Monroe, 76, passed away surrounded by his family on the morning of July 4, 2020. He was born November 4, 1943 in Salem, NJ.
At a young age Albert and his parents, the late Albert Monroe and Rose Peck, relocated to Schenectady, NY. Eventually, Albert and his late wife, Beatrice, settled in Wilton, NY and remained in the Saratoga area where they raised their family.
Albert was always a hard worker. As a teenager, he ran a successful shoe shining business until he began working at General Electric in Schenectady. After a few years he decided he preferred working outside and started a long career in the construction industry. He eventually would retire from Bohl Construction and as a member of Local 157. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish.
In addition to his parents and wife, Albert is predeceased by his daughter, Vikki. Survivors include sons; Albert (Catherine) Monroe of Nassau, NY and Richard (Trina) Monroe of Lake Luzurne, daughter Kimberly Stearns of Fort Anne, NY, adopted son Bill Maab of Gloversville, sister Mabel Monroe, lifelong friend Dustin Barnes of Middle Grove, grandchildren; Jasmine (fiancé Chris VanGundy) Dzieniszewski, Melinda Monroe, Seth Monroe, Jessie Monroe, Cobra Monroe, Shelby Monroe, Romero Monroe, Hawk Monroe, and great-grandchildren; Jerimyah Monroe, Tatiana Monroe, Maliyah Monroe, and Avalynn VanGundy.
A funeral home service will be celebrated at 10am on Thursday, July 9, 2020 at William J. Burke & Sons Funeral Home, 628 North Broadway (518) 584-5373. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery.
**Following NYS guidelines, the attendance will be limited to 30 people.**
