Obituary

Wilton, NY Albert J. Mottau, 85, passed away Saturday, April 28, 2012 at Marys Haven, Saratoga Springs. Born on Sept. 25, 1926 in Brockton, MA, he was the son of the late Albert and Elizabeth Mottau. A graduate of Brockton City Schools, he served two years in the Navy during World War II before graduating from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, North Adams, MA in 1951. He started his career teaching in Berlin and Schenectady, NY. Albert became principal at the Joseph Henry Elementary School in Galway, retiring after 32 years. He was an avid golfer and skier and a former member of the Ballston Spa Country Club and McGregor Links Country Club. Albert wrote for the Saratogian and Saratoga Today, sharing with readers the many places he had skied and golf not only in this country but in many parts of the world. He enjoyed skiing until her was 80 and ended his golf games at the age of 84. In addition to his parents he is predeceased by two sisters, Helen Goshin and Ruth Williamson and a brother, James Mottau. Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Mary; sons GaryMottau and Glenn (Michele Morris) Mottau; two grandsons, Tanner and Kieran Mottau. Relatives and friends may call from 10 to11am Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at Our Ladys Chapel, St. Clements Church, 231 Lake Ave., Saratoga Springs. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am in the chapel. Burial with military honor will follow at the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Duell Rd., Schuylerville. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Marys Haven, 35 New St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866 or Community Hospice of Saratoga, 179 Lawrence St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
