Obituary

Saratoga Springs, NY - Alfonso Pescatore, Jr., passed away Friday April 30, 2010 at his home with his wife by his side. He was 85. Born November 8, 1924 in Mount Vernon, NY, he was a son of the late Alfonso and Maria Deandrea Pescatore, Sr.. Alfonso was a U.S. Navy veteran from 1943 to 1946, serving aboard the USS Phoenix in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre. He worked for many years as a sales and service manager for Marposs Gages in White Plains and later as a limousine driver for Greely Limousine in Chappaqua, NY. Alfonso loved the New York sports teams. Whether the Yankees, Rangers or Giants were playing, he was there number one fan. He also had a soft spot for horse racing and when he and his wife moved to Saratoga Springs thirteen years ago, they would enjoy many summer meets at the track. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Marie Place. Survivors include his wife Erica Floter Pescatore; his children, Edward Pesatore and his wife Dorothy, Jo-Ann Walz; seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Graveside service with military honors will be conducted at 1:30pm Monday May 3, 2010 in the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes of 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY (518-584-5373).
