Obituary

Saratoga Springs, NY- Alice Tenbeau passed away on January 19, 2026 at Saratoga Hospital in Saratoga Springs, New York. Alice was born in Staten Island, NY on October 28, 1944 to Alice Mebane Rianhard and John M. Rianhard. She attended Tottenville High School on Staten Island and went on to graduate from the University of Connecticut. Alice spent her entire career as an elementary school teacher in the Albany New York school system, where she found joy in teaching young children.

While living in Albany she met and fell in love with Peter Tenbeau, her next door neighbor. In 1975 Alice and Peter were married and spent 50 happy years together. When they retired they sold their house in Slingerlands, NY and moved to Warren, VT. After 22 years in VT they decided to downsize and moved back to the small house they bought in 1988 near the Saratoga race track.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Peter who passed away on November 18, 2025. She is survived by her brother Henry Rianhard and was "aunt Alice" to many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. They all have many happy memories of the times they spent with her.

Alice and Peter had a full and happy life together doing the things they both enjoyed. They played tennis, skied, enjoyed beach vacations and travelled both here and abroad. They also raised and rode horses and enjoyed their season tickets to the Saratoga track. Alice loved to play bridge and volunteered with Meals on Wheels, Habitat for Humanity and other charities. Through the years they made many lifelong friends. Spending time with friends and family was one of their favorite things to do.

There will be no services at this time. A joint celebration of Alice and Peters' lives will be held in the future, details will be published when available.

The family would like to thank the dedicated team of home health aides that provided such good care to Alice and Peter during their final days.
