Saratoga Springs, NY- Alma Arpey recently told her children that she was blessed to have lived a long and fulfilling life of 86 years. She started her life with celebration as Ballston Spa's New Year's baby!  She was born January 4, 1939, in a tiny little house near the old mill. She and her family moved to Saratoga Springs, first on Middle Avenue and then on Ludlow St., where she lived until she left us on July 3, 2025.

She always praised her parents Helen and Warren Bonesteel as people who lived, rather than spoke their faith. She looked forward to seeing them again and believed strongly that her mother was waiting to greet her.

Alma and her husband Frank A. Arpey, Jr. built their life around their children. Alma is survived by Jenny, Frank, Andrew and his wife Michelle. Alma was blessed by and adored her grandchildren Alyssa (Matthew) Goldberg and Philip Simms, Nicholas and Casey Arpey, Jack (Brian) and Tice Arpey and her great grandchildren Daniel and Ava Sabbatino.

Alma was a 1956 graduate of Saratoga High School where she developed lifelong friendships with the "56 Girls," regularly meeting for lunch to catch up on the events of everyone's lives. She built equally meaningful friendships with her colleagues as a secretary at Skidmore College, for 15 years.

Alma loved to cook for her family, and we will miss the smells of sauce, lasagna and meatballs filling the house on Sundays and holidays.

Relatives and friends are invited to call from 11- 1pm on Thursday, July 10, 2025 followed by a 1 pm funeral home service at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Home, 628 N. Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, West Ave.

Alma loved Steve Caparizzo's Pet Connection, and we suggest remembering her with a donation to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society .
