Obituary

Saratoga Springs, NY - Amanda May (Eggleston) Barnes of Hadley, NY passed away Thursday June 22, 2023 surrounded by her family at Saratoga Hospital.  She was 56 years young. Born on October 18th, 1966 at Saratoga Hospital. She was a daughter of Stephen Meredith Eggleston and Harriet Smead Eggleston of Crommelin Dr, Saratoga Springs.

Amanda earned her bachelor's degree in economics at The State University of New York at Albany. Amanda worked passionately and tirelessly at her position at MapInfo for 30 years, then transferred into Pitney Bowes ownership for a few more, then settled at her final and favorite position at GIC- the Geospatial Insurance Consortium, in organization with the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) and Bexcel Data Program. Amanda worked on numerous projects for them including one focused on catastrophe and disaster response for Hurricane Ian which was most recent.

Amanda loved to spend time in the garden, with friends & family (especially on the water), and last but not least, the hobby she enjoyed up until her last weeks- horseback riding. She had a tremendous passion for horses- whether riding or caring for, it is actually where her work adventures started… at the stable…

Amanda also loved to spend time in Florida by the ocean fishing with her brother Curtis, nephew CJ, and her son Jason. Amanda loved berry picking too, whether in NY or Florida.  Amanda also loved spending time by the fire, overlooking the Great Sacandaga Lake, with her partner Steve.  She'd enjoy crochet and knitting too, when she was able to sit herself down that is. She was also a member of the Red Hat Women's club for social and activity gatherings and enjoyed her time within the Sacandaga Snowmobile club, riding the vast trail systems on the mountains behind her home in which she used to reside on the Great Sacandaga Lake.

Amanda is predeceased by her parents, James Chester Barnes & Rita Lolik Barnes; her sister-in-law Susanna Eggleston (Curtis C Eggleston) and nephew Curtis J Eggleston. She is survived by her parents Stephen Meredith Eggleston & Harriet Smead Eggleston,  her sister Debra Eggleston & Mr. Corky Verrigni, sister Barbara (Eggleston) Yandow & husband Robert Yandow, brother Curtis C Eggleston & wife Angela Hunter Eggleston, brother Steven Eggleston & wife Sabine (Pleuss) Eggleston, husband Jay Barnes (separated/divorced), her son Jason Barnes & wife Jordan (Capobianco) Barnes, and her beloved grandson Elliot James Barnes (Jason and Jordan Barnes).
