Saratoga Springs, NY - Amelia B "Millie" Giulino Herbert, 101, passed away at Mary's Haven in Saratoga Springs on Sunday, March 17, 2013. Born January 9, 1912, she was the youngest child of the late Sebastian Bruno and Theresa B. Bruno, of Fairview, N.J. Millie was a very active and energetic lady right up to the last days of her life. She was an avid reader of books and very interest in political and current events. Her most endearing interest however, was her growing family. In 1935 she married Anthony Giulino. For several years she stayed at home to raise their daughter. In 1950 she began a career in the medical field. She became the office manager for Dr. Harrison B. Wilson a well known obstetrician in Hackensack, NJ. Following his retirement in 1967, she became the office manager for Dr. Zivkov A. Strika, also of Hackensack, N.J. Her first husband, Anthony, passed away in 1960 , and in 1970, she married Francis Herbert , a longtime friend. In 1975, they moved to Fresno, CA to be near family. Following his death, Millie moved to Saratoga Springs, to be near her daughter. From 1999 it 2011 she was a resident of Prestwick Chase Retirement Community. In 2011 she moved to The Home of the Good Shepherd Assisted Living Facility in Wilton, NY. . In addition to her parents and two husbands, she was predeceased by one brother Emeric Bruno and three sisters, Rose Calabria, Mary Frangello and Lilly Bruno. She is survived by one daughter, Linda L. (Don) Snyder of Saratoga Springs and three grandsons, Keith (Julie) Snyder of Pottersville, N.J., Douglas (Kirstin) Snyder of Union, KY, Dr. Kenneth (Ellen) Snyder of Huntersville, N.C. She is also survived by eight great grand children: Allison, Harrison, Logan, Preston, "Will", Mason, Paige and Griffin Snyder. In addition she is survived by four stepsons Peter (Yvonne) Herbert of Parrish, Fl, Michael (Patricia) Herbert of East Bridgewater, MA, Francis Herbert of Thousand Oaks, CA and Phillip Herbert , seven step grandchildren and six step great grandchildren. She leaves behind her very special friends, Carol and Bob Bloomer of Fresno, CA, Nancy Griffis and Joseph Parker of Hadley, NY, Irma Jaekel of Wilton and Helen Levanda of Menands, NY and two nieces, Gloria(Harry) Jaeger of Clovis California and Claire (Alfred) Ciuffitelli of Camarillo, CA. A Memorial Celebration of Millie's life will be held at 11am Friday, April 12, 2013 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 149 Lake Ave., Saratoga Springs with family visitation at 10am In lieu of flowers donations may be made in "Millie's" name to Mary's Haven, 35 New Street, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866, Community Hospice of Saratoga, 179 Lawrence St., Saratoga Springs, NY, or to St. Paul's Christian Childhood Center Scholarship Fund, 149 Lake Ave, Saratoga Springs, NY.
