Obituary

Saratoga Springs - AnaMaria (Rocki) Bonar passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, February 4, 2015. She was 65 years old. Born into this world on December 28, 1949 to Anthony Graziano and Ana Chiques in Newark, New Jersey. AnaMaria began a lifelong quest for laughter and love. Upon graduation from Union High School in 1968, AnaMaria apprenticed with Brunner Opticians and became licensed in 1972 as an Optician. In 1975 AnaMaria married Vincent O'Brien and moved to Milford, CT. In 1976 the couple moved to Rexford, NY and in 1978 AnaMaria welcomed into this world her daughter, Kathleen. Following her divorce from Vincent, AnaMaria remarried Dr. Robert A. Bonar in 1981 and lived in Clifton Park, where Bob operated the Clifton Park Animal Hospital until his retirement in 2002. In 1983 AnaMaria began a 2 decade career as a "horse show mom," traveling with Kate and Bob throughout the country supporting Kate in all her competitions. Although still settled in Clifton Park, trailers were hitched and tack was polished all over the country without complaint. According to AnaMaria, there was no better weekend than watching her daughter compete on the horse show circuit. In 1985 AnaMaria became a member of the Captain Youth and Family Services board serving as Secretary, Treasurer, Executive Vice President, and President. AnaMaria was compassionate in her cause and steady in her directorship to make Captain an example for the community and to try to end the issues that disrupt families and teens. With AnaMaria's influence and, of course, attitude, Captain can be proud of its success today. In 2002 AnaMaria was stricken with cancer, and her new battle was to show cancer who was boss. Given little chance of survivability, AnaMaria set out to enjoy whatever days she had left by living them to the fullest. In 2003, AnaMaria and Bob moved from Clifton Park to Moreau in order to be closer to her family, which expanded in 2004 with the birth of her grandson Christopher. The laughter and love in her life continued and became louder with the birth of her granddaughter, Ana, in 2008. AnaMaria's days were the brightest when her "grands" were around with laughter, puzzles, games, and high jinx always afoot. In 2010 AnaMaria's soul mate, Bob, passed away. Although devastated, the same resolve for laughter and love continued and in 2011 AnaMaria moved to Saratoga Springs to be with her family, and live in the same house as her "grands." Family vacations to the Bahamas, Florida, and Bequa began with laughter on the beaches. Unfortunately AnaMaria succumb to cancer on February 4. Although the disease took her body, the laughter and love she sought was with her to the end. AnaMaria is survived by her brother Anthony Graziano, of New Jersey, Kate (Paul) Veitch of Saratoga Springs, and her "grands," Christopher and Ana Veitch, who will miss her dearly. Relatives and friends may call from 2pm to 5pm Thursday, February 12, 2015 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 N. Broadway, Saratoga Springs, 584-5373.
