Stillwater - Angeline "Lena" Molinero Whisher (aka Nonie and Energizer Bunny) lived her life to the fullest. Thankfully, she left us with a parting gift of instructional guidelines to follow, in the event of her receiving her wings. "I do not want a lengthy, flowing obit as is customary today, stating she died in her rocking chair, crocheting for her grandchildren she loved very much. UGH! Also, forget my age and year born."
Born and raised in Whitehall, NY to Francis and Frances (Riva) Molinero, Ange's drive and thirst for knowledge was unwavering. After graduating from Whitehall High School at 16, she attained her BS at Cortland State, MS at SUNY Albany and AD at Ithaca College.
Fondly remembered by her students, her teaching credentials include Physical Education at Mooers - Altona, Saranac and Dannemora Central Schools, Mohonasen (Rotterdam), Union College, and Classes for the Empire State College "Academy for Learning in Retirement" in Saratoga.
Angeline served as the President of the Capital District and NYS Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (receiving a Distinguished Service Award), President of the Ausable Forks Library Board of Trustees, a Niskayuna Rotary Scholar (continuing The Hank Whisher Track Meet for 25 years after her husband passed). She was also inducted into the Mohonasen Athletic Hall of Fame. Summers were enjoyed at Lake George with her husband and two young sons. Owning Davy Jones Locker, Northland Sporting Goods kept the family very busy. After retiring, Ange and her husband moved back to Hank's home town of Ausable Forks, where they established a B&B, The Palmer Brook Inn. With the passing of Hank, her adventurous side kicked in. Ange traveled the world with family and friends, creating as many colorful memories as she could.
Angeline is predeceased by her husband, Floyd "Hank" Whisher; her parents; son, Bradley E Whisher; bother, John Molinero; his wife, Joyce and their two sons, John and Neil.
Her family includes son, Randall (Mary Ann) Whisher; grandchildren, Lindsay (John) Pigott, James Falletta, Kim Whisher, Jennifer (James Fox) Whisher, Bradley E Whisher Jr, Joseph Whisher and Hank Whisher; six great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; brother, Morris (Doris) Molinero and Janet Mikovich was more than her best friend, she will always be family.
Angeline enjoyed her last years with Carl Taeubner, whom she'd known since they began teaching years ago. Ange and Carl proved love can happen at any age. Two years ago, Ange's independent life was interrupted with a stroke. Thankfully her grandson Joseph and great niece Brooke Molinero stayed with her for the first six weeks. With the aid of her loving care givers, Tracy Crosier, Lynn Deerfield, Leila Basdeo, Physical Therapist Julia Tuczynski, granddaughter Jennifer, grandson Brad, son Randall and her "I can do it" snarky attitude, she enjoyed living in the comfort of her own home.
A special thank you to Community Hospice (Gerry) and Pastor Brian for making Angeline's last weeks filled with comfort. Wings and tilted halo received on August 4, 2023.
