Obituary

Milton, NY – Anthony R. Giamis, 78, passed away at his home on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 with his loving wife at his side.

Born on August 17, 1939 in Troy, NY, he was the son of the late Charles and Edna (Pascoe) Giamis. Anthony served in the US Marine Corp, retiring after 20 years as a Gunnery Sergeant. After his honorable discharge from the military he worked for Ball Metal Container for another 20 years. He was a very loving father and husband who taught his children positive values and the rewards of hard work. He was very active in scouting and was Cubmaster for Pack 15 of Division Street School. He had fond memories of canoe trips, camping, fishing in the Adirondacks and traveling. He especially enjoyed seeing Alaska and many National Parks throughout the country. Anthony was a strong, honorable man who loved to help his neighbors with snow blowing, raking leaves and other projects.

In addition to his parents, Anthony was predeceased by his sister Linda Conway and his in-laws Martin and Rita Oudekerk.

Survivors include his wife of over 49 years, Karen of Milton; his three children Andrew (Heidi) of McKinney, TX, Anthony (Liz) of Libertyville, IL and Kate Skoczdopole (John) of Olney, MD; seven grandchildren Zachary, Christopher, Kelvin, Lucas, Emma, Abby and Aidan; three sisters Frances White, Mary Repp and Patricia Jacques; three sister-in-laws Sally Lemery (Frank), Marcia Boucher and Judy Guay (Bob); many nieces and nephews; close friends Rich Goldfarb, Jack Kappes and Tom Galvin.

Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 8pm Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs (518-584-5373).

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9am Friday, Feb. 23, 2018 at St. Mary's Church, 167 Milton Ave., Ballston Spa and burial with military honors will follow at 11am at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Community Hospice, Albany-Stratton VA Adult Day Program, Denise DiResta of Warren County Veteran Services and Dr. Suzanne Palmieri.
