Amsterdam, NY - Anthony J. Karbocus of Academy Street, passed away Monday, Sept. 1, 2014 at the Home of the Good Shepard in Moreau, NY. He was 95. Born on Nov. 19, 1918 in Amsterdam, NY, he was the son of the late Charles and Lucy Karbocus. He was a graduate the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School in Amsterdam. Following graduation, Anthony proudly served in the United States Army as a medic during World War II from 1941 to 1946 in the European Theatre and was honorably discharged as a staff sergeant. Anthony worked for the United States Postal Service for over 30 years. He was an active participant in all of St. Casmir's Church functions. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of over 66 years, Jane Luzen Karbocus, who passed away July 27, 2014 and one sister, Susan Dansevitch Survivors include his son, Robert (Kimberly) Karbocus of Porter Corners; one daughter Nancy (Gary) DiCresce of Saratoga Springs; two granddaughters, Chelsea Karbocus of San Francisco, CA, and Kira Montanye of Charlton. There will be no calling hours and funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
