Obituary

Ballston Spa - Anthony "Tony" Smith died suddenly on Saturday, July 4, 2009 at Saratoga Hospital. He was 50. Tony was born in Mexico City, Mexico on November 15, 1958, son of Peg Smith and the late Thomas M. Smith, beloved husband of Andrea Pascale Smith and dedicated father of Kyle, Maggie, Morgan and Simon Smith. Tony lived in Mexico City until he moved to Saratoga Springs with his parents in 1979. He finished his high school education in Saratoga Springs and later graduated from SUNY Brockport with a Bachelors Degree. He was a National Sales Account Executive with Commonwealth Brands Inc. Tony always enjoyed being with children and was especially dedicated to the sport of soccer, which he coached for many years. Whenever time permitted, Tony would don his helmet and take a ride on his Harley. He was proud of his children's accomplishments, not only for their successes in school, but also Kyle and Morgan's soccer skills, Maggie's equestrian prowess, and more recently Simon's baseball pitching and soccer training. In addition to his wife, mother and children, he is survived by five siblings, Mimi, Alice, Ed, Frank, Steve, many nieces and nephews: Nicole, Sebi, Rob, Gil, Pat and Alex, Ben and Michael, Christopher and Nicholas. and countless friends. Tony unselfishlessly donated his organs and tissue. We will miss Tony's spirit, his wonderful sense of humor and unwavering positive attitude. His influence on his wife, children, extended family as well as others who knew him will live forever. Family and Friends may call on Tuesday, July 7, 2009 from 4-6 PM at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes of 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs (584-5373) Reflections and memories will be shared at 6:00PM following the visitation.
