IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Arthur "Artie"
M. Kearney
May 27, 1946 – April 1, 2020
Saratoga Springs, NY - It is with great sadness that the family of Artie (Arthur M.) Kearney announces his passing on April 1, 2020 at the age of 73. He was born on May 27, 1946 in Albany, NY, to the late Phyllis and Arthur Kearney, former mayor of Saratoga Springs, NY.
Artie attended Saint Peter's Academy class of 1964; and went on to study Journalism at Saint Bonaventure class of 1968. His true Saratoga pride led him to find meaning and purpose in his work as a journalist for the Saratogian; as well as a clerk for NY State Parks and Historic Sites. Artie spent several summers during his retirement honoring his deep-rooted zest for horseracing working for NYRA. He was a sports fanatic and a baseball statistic savant; you would often find him monitoring several MLB games at once and keeping detailed notes and box scores. Artie lived a full life doing what made him happiest.
He is survived by his niece, Mesha M. Brewer, his two great nieces, Emma (18) and Ava (12) Brewer and his devoted friends Luanne and Tony. Along with his parents, Artie was predeceased by his sister Arlis and brother Michael.
A private burial service will be held at the family plot of Calvary Cemetery in Glenmont, NY.
Arrangements are under the direction of the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes of 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs (518-584-5373).
