Saratoga Springs, NY - Arthur J. McCann, born November 15, 1926 died peacefully on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at Saratoga Hospital after a brief illness. Arthur was born in Mechanicville, NY and graduated from Salem Washington Academy and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He graduated from the Albany College of Pharmacy and had a lifelong career as a pharmacist until his retirement and he was a communicant of St. Clements Church in Saratoga Springs. He was the son of the late Arthur P. McCann and Mary Hannon and was also predeceased by his sisters, Eileen Walker, Mary McMartin and Joan Frulla. Survivors include his devoted wife of 56 years, Eileen Guidon McCann; his five children, Arthur P. McCann of Liverpool, NY, Brian J. (Kathy) McCann of Niskayuna, Kathleen M. (Joseph) Bango of Wilton, Thomas J. (Christine) McCann of Feura Bush and Margaret M. (Stephen) Frodey of Clifton Park; his sixteen grandchildren, Kathryn, Kristina, Gregory and Sarah McCann, Brendan, Maura and Aidan McCann, Caitlin, Zachary and Haleigh Bango, Andrew, Timothy and Nicholas McCann and Kevin, Brian and Darrin Frodey, who were the light of his life and always brought a smile to his face. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Arts family was most important to him and he was especially proud of their pursuits and accomplishments. He enjoyed family vacations in the Adirondacks and many Sunday afternoon drives through the countryside in Vermont. Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 7pm Monday, June 27, 2011 at Our Lady's Chapel in the Parish Center of St. Clement's Church, 231 Lake Avenue. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30am Tuesday, June 28, 2011 in St. Clement's Church, by the Rev. Francis E. Sullivan, C.Ss.R, associate pastor. Burial with military honors will follow in the family plot at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Cambridge. The family would like to express sincere thanks and gratitude to all the staff at Saratoga Hospital who provided him with the best of care over the past five weeks, especially Dr. Joseph Bell and his staff.
