Obituary

Saratoga Springs, NY - Audrey (Waring) Furey of Wilton Commons Drive, went home to the Lord on Thursday (Jan. 28, 2010) at Saratoga Hospital, with her loving family by her side. She was 81. Born on Feb. 28, 1928 in Saratoga Springs, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Agnes (Quinn) Waring, Sr., and a graduate of Saratoga Springs High School, Class of 1945. A parishioner of St. Clement's Roman Catholic Church and Our Lady of Grace Church in Palm Bay, FL, she had volunteered with the parish school's PTA, RCIA and various retreats. An avid reader, Audrey took the words of the Bible to heart. She lived love and forgiveness every day. She took comfort in reaching out to anyone who crossed her path. She loved her ministry to the less fortunate, through the St. Vincent dePaul Society and Daily Bread Soup Kitchen. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, making clothes and sharing them with others. If there is a lesson to learn from Audrey's life, it is no matter what happens in life, family is most important of all; work hard to keep it together. Audrey assisted in the operation of the Furey Oil company with her husband, Charles J. Furey, Sr., for 25 years. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, Harry and G. Philip Waring and three sisters, Beverly Priester, Eleanor R. Waring and Jean E. Driscoll and one granddaughter, Alyssa Furey. Survivors include her husband, Charles J. Furey, Sr. who she married on Dec. 15, 1946; seven sons, Charles J., Jr. of Saratoga Springs, Dennis (Mary) of Greenfield Center, Gerard (Nancy) Niskayuna, Richard (Elaine) of Enfield, CT, Joseph (Leah) of Roxbury, CT, John of Saratoga Springs and Paul (Sharon) of Spring Hill, FL; four daughters; Anne (Edward) Moore of Saratoga Springs, Beth (Bob) Carlton of Barrington, NH, Geralyn (James) Ruhle of Saratoga Springs and Julie (Mark) Leffler of Wilton; 28 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; one sister, Elaine (William) Dunson of Saratoga Springs; two sisters-in-law, Mary Furey Pitney and Janice Delay Waring, both of Saratoga Springs and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends may call from 1 to 4pm Sunday, (Jan. 31, 2010) at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs (584-5373). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am Monday (Feb. 1, 2010) in St. Clement's Church, 231 Lake Ave. Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Peter's Cemetery, West Ave. Memorials may be made in her name to St. Vincent dePaul Society, Our Lady of Grace Church, 300 Malabar Road, Palm Bay, FL 32909 or to St. Clement's Church, 231 Lake Ave., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
