Ballston Spa, NY - Ava J. (Perkins) Griffin passed away Thursday, Feb. 11, 2010 after a long battle with breast cancer. She was 56. Born on November 11, 1953 in Saratoga Springs, NY she was the loving daughter of Mary Keeley Periard and the late Dona Periard. Ava was a LPN and worked for almost 30 years at Maplewood Manor in Ballston Spa. She was a profound animal lover and leaves behind her five beloved dogs, Buster, Midnight, Shadow, Molly and Patches. Ava was an angel who touched many lives and was loved by everyone who knew her. She will be greatly missed by her family and her many close friends at Maplewood Manor. In addition to her mother Mary of Schuylerville, survivors include her loving husband Jay Griffin of Ballston Spa and her sons Brian Perkins of Cohoes, Tim and Jonathan Perkins of Ballston Spa; stepchildren, Kailyn, Elyse and Corey Griffin of Valley Falls; sisters, Maureen Hunter (Wayne) of Schuylerville and Jill Periard of Watervliet; nephews, Sean Hunter of Connecticut, Christopher Hunter of Corinth and Antony Griffin of Ballston Spa; nieces, Mary Hunter of Greenwich, Megan Griffin and Victoria Guerin both of Ballston Spa; her in-laws, Betty and Joe Griffin of Melrose and several sister and brother-in-laws. Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 7pm Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2010 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs (584-5373). Funeral services will follow at 7pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in the spring at Notre Dame Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY.
