Saratoga Springs, NY - Avril Beveridge (née Waddington) died peacefully on May 13 after a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alex Beveridge and her son, Iain Beveridge (George Cocatas).
Born February 2,1935 in Radcliffe, England, she was the second of eight children born to John and Hilda (née Yates) Waddington. After the war, she attended Stand Grammer School where she excelled academically and then entered the work force until she married and emigrated to Canada and then the United States.
Avril's professional life started later than most. In her mid-40's she enrolled at Kent State, eventually receiving a B.A. in accounting from Franklin Pierce College in 1984. She worked for 20 years as Director of Finance at Transitional Services Association. In retirement, Avril was busier than ever. A member of the Presbyterian – UCC Church of Saratoga she loved her Yahas, served as Treasurer of the Academy of Lifelong Learning, was Captain of her golf league and volunteered doing taxes for other seniors. Avril loved the ballet, opera and playing bridge with her friends and enjoyed travelling the world with her family.
Avril is survived by her son Keith (Jamie Schultz) of Edina, MN and daughter, Heather Beneat of Chester, NY; her beloved granddaughters Alyson Beveridge of Copenhagen, Grace Beveridge of Hopkins, MN, Lauren Beneat and Nicole Beneat of Chester, NY; her younger siblings, many nieces, nephews and friends.
A celebration of Avril's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Presbyterian-UCC Church of Saratoga.
