Wilton, NY - B. Patrick Powers, born April 18, 1950 in Rome, NY, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday July 24, 2011 surrounded by family and friends. He was diagnosed with Stage IV pancreatic cancer in July 2010 and lived his life to the fullest for twelve months, "He took cancer by the hand and walked with it." Patrick was an extraordinary photographer who touched the lives and memories of many people over his career of 33 years. He and his wife, Michele created Remember When Studios in Saratoga Springs, NY and Old Time Photos in Lake George, NY. Both studios will continue his legacy as he mentored and inspired his son, Brian and so many other young people to love photography. Patrick was very lucky that he remained relatively healthy for nearly the entire time, going to his photography studio almost every day until his last few weeks. Patrick was born in Rome, NY, son of Edward E. Jr., MD and Mary Rose Powers who predeceased him. He married Michele Saternow in 1984 and they have one son, Brian Jr, whom he adored and was so very proud of. He is survived by his siblings, Edward E. III, Susan and her husband Jerry Farnsworth, M. Timothy, Christopher and Cathleen; and in-laws Margaret (Grama) Saternow, Jay (Patty) Saternow, John (Dee) Saternow, Melanie (Dennis) Russell, and Melissa Harvey. He was a special uncle to many nieces and nephews who meant the world to him. His father-in-law, William, predeceased him in 2003. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am Friday, July 29, 2011 at St. Clements Church, 231 Lake Ave. by the Rev. Paul J. Borowski C.Ss.R. Burial will be in the family plot at St. Peters Cemetery, Rome, NY at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donation be made to a 5 K walk/run in Patricks honor to be held in Boston on September 10, 2011.
