Saratoga Springs, NY - Barbara Sarah Williams Chubb passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at Saratoga Hospital. Born December 29, 1943 in Schenectady, NY, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Velma Williams and was a 1961 graduate of Linton High School. Barbara proudly worked for the Saratoga Springs City School District for 35 years as an elementary school teacher. She retired in 1999. She was a member of the Saratoga Springs United Methodist Church and its choir (proudly as an Alto), a volunteer at Saratoga Hospital, the secretary of the Saratoga Springs Football Booster Club and various Saratoga Springs community sports organizations, was a charter member on the Board of Directors for the Allegiance Bowl, and was active in the Saratoga Retired Teachers Association. Barbara was an avid baseball fan who especially loved the Baltimore Orioles. During her winter stays in southern Florida she often attended pre-season baseball games. Other activities she enjoyed included baking and sharing her pumpkin bread and fudge with others, spending time at her family's camp in Lake Luzerne, NY, making and sending cards and cakes to friends, family (and even strangers!), reading, traveling, five hour lunches with girlfriends, cross stitching and knitting, sending out Methodist prayers, and spending time with her grandson. Barbara is survived by her husband, Clayton Chubb, Jr. of Saratoga Springs; her daughter, Beth Chubb of Wilton; her grandson, Andrew Clayton Roberts; her sister, Peg Gardner of Arcadia, FL; nephews, Scott Gardner of Cumberland, ME and Timothy Gardner of Baltimore, MD. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her daughter, Amy Elizabeth and her son, Christopher Charles. Special thanks go out to the staff of Saratoga Hospital's A3 wing, Dr. Mastrianni, Dr. Izzo, Saratoga Hospice, George and Diana Bull and family, Nancy Moran, and Roberta Allen. Relatives and friends may call from 2 to 6pm Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012 at the Saratoga Springs United Methodist Church, 175 Fifth Ave. at Henning Road, Saratoga Springs. Funeral services will be held at 10am Monday, Oct. 15, 2012 at the church and burial will follow in the family plot at Greenridge Cemetery, Lincoln Ave. In keeping with her wishes, Barbara requested, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Christopher Chubb Light Fund at any Adirondack Trust Company location.
