Saratoga Springs - Barbara Haner was born on June 9, 1932 and died peacefully in her sleep at the age of 90 on October 6, 2022.

She attended St. Teresa's Elementary School and Vincentian Institute. She graduated from St Rose College with a BA in Math and SUNYA with an MS in Mathematics. She maintained many close friendships from these schools for over 8 decades of her life.

Barbara became a high school math teacher, starting her career at Coxsackie-Athens and retiring from Scotia-Glenville. After her retirement, she worked as an Adjunct Professor at Hudson Valley CC, was the Assistant Director of Continuing Education at Shenendehowa and was on the Board of Directors of the Shenendehowa library.

More recently, she was a Eucharistic minister at St Peter's, she volunteered at Wesley Community, Hospice and Habitat for Humanity and she served as a tutor at a local church.

Barbara married Richard L Haner and they were together for 62 years before he passed away at age 92. They raised 5 children, had full-time careers and made it all look easy.

They always said the secret to their long marriage was the rule that the first to leave had to take the children.

Barbara was pre-deceased by her parents, Edward Benedict and Ruth Anderson and her son, Kirk. She is survived by 4 daughters; Linda, Nancy, Judy and Karen.

There also are 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren who will miss her greatly.

Barbara enjoyed skiing and golfing with her family, playing bridge and socializing with her friends. She will be remembered by many for her perfect Manhattans and was always ready with a toast. She loved spending time in her gardens where she was more of a director than participant due to an incident early in the marriage.

Visitation will be held this Tuesday, October 11, 2022 from 10am - 11am at the historic Church of St. Peter, 241 Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am. Those in attendance will be invited to a gathering after Mass followed by her burial at the Chatham Center Rural Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Saratoga Community Garden.
