Saratoga Springs, NY - Beatrice M. Poutre, age 103, passed away peacefully at Wesley Health Care Center on July 24, 20ll. Born in Schenectady, she was the daughter of Joseph Arthur Poutre and Rose Miller Poutre. After the death of her mother, she lived in Quebec, Canada, with family, remaining there for over 30 years. She returned to Schenectady, working at Cluett & Peabody; then moved to California, where she lived until 2006. She was an expert seamstress, creating a hand-sewn quilt for each member of the family. She loved reading mysteries and westerns, watching Jeopardy and the Wheel of Fortune, and seeing old movies, especially those with Spencer Tracy and Kathryn Hepburn, and was pleased to have met Ms. Hepburn. She was predeceased by brother Clarence Poutre and his wife Mary; brother Harry Poutre and his wife Mae; stepbrother Raymond Poutre and his wife Jennie; and niece Mary Poutre Kinnear. She is survived by nephew Arthur Poutre and his wife Marie of Saratoga Springs, and niece Rose-Ellen Daniels and her husband John of Hopedale, MA, several grand nephews and nieces and first cousin Beatrice DeRoche of Bristol, CT. She is also survived by friends and long-time caretakers, Cleo and Lyman Eggleston of Templeton, CA. There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Church of St. Peter, 241 Broadway, Saratoga Springs on Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at 10 AM. Burial will follow at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna. The family would like to thank the management at Wesley and the staff on Four Springs for their excellent care.
