Saratoga Springs, NY – Benny Allen Haney, resident of Home of the Good Shepherd, died on Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016 at Saratoga Hospital, after a long illness. He was 80.

Born in Wakenda, Missouri, he was the oldest of five children born to the late Robert and Evelyn (Burkhart) Haney.  Benny was married to his wife of fifty years, Charlotte Kearbey, who passed away in 2005. He loved fixing things, reading and telling stories and was a 62 year member of the IUOE 106.

Survivors include his son Steven (Lauren) Haney of Hemstreet Park, Mechanicville; daughters Cathy (Marc) Shultes of West Berne and Janice Haney (Jeremy)-Peters of Clifton Park; two grandpuppies Smudge and Fergie as well as several siblings, nieces, nephews and many friends.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Saratoga Hospital and Home of the Good Shepherd for all their care and love they gave to Benny over the last several years.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
