Saratoga Springs, NY - Betty B. MacMonagle, formerly of Schuyler Drive, died Friday (Dec. 9, 2011) at the Home of the Good Shepherdin Malta. She was 90. Born on Oct. 19, 1921 in Akron, OH, she was the daughter of the late George and Margaret (French) Brunner and resided in Saratoga Springs since 1962. In her youth, she was an avid horsewoman who rode five-gaited show horses. A graduate of Weylister College in Milford, Conn., she also attended Stephens College in Missouri. A secretary for 15 years with the New York Racing Association retiring in 1977, she also served as a secretary at St. Clement's School for 10 years and was a member of St. Clement's Church. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Col. (USAF Ret.) William D. MacMonagle, who died Aug. 13, 1973 and one son, Michael F. MacMonagle, who died Aug. 8, 2011. Survivors include her children, Peter MacMonagle of Charlotte, NC, Patrick (Gerri) MacMonagle of Fairfieil, CT and Molly (Larry) Rentak of Delmar, NY; her daughter-in-law, Hope Baca MacMonagle and five grandchildren, Gabriel, Toni, Laura, William and Amanda; seven great-grandchildren, Ricky, Gavin, Abby, Riley, Leni, Lorenzo and Mikey; one brother, George Brunner of Nashville, IN and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 6pm Monday at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing and Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway 584-5373. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am Tuesday in St. Clement's Church, 231 Lake Ave., by the Rev. Paul Borowski, C.Ss.R., pastor. Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Peter's Cemetery, West Ave. Memorials may be made in her name to any charity that benefits animals.
