Saratoga Springs, NY- Betty Mason, age 96, passed away on October 8, 2017 at the Wesley Health Care Community.  Betty was born in New York City, and was the daughter of Frederick Wattles and Inez Casner Wattles.

Betty and her family lived in Latham and then she and her husband retired to Saratoga.  Earlier in her life she was employed by Gibbs and Cox in New York City as a draft woman for ships.  Betty's biggest passion was water.  She was the Aquatics Director at the Idlewood Swim Club in Latham, and taught swimming for the Red Cross, Schenectady Jewish Community Center and several other pools.  She and her family spent many wonderful years sailing and camping on the islands on Lake George.  Betty was an accomplished rug hooker and had several art shows to highlight her works of art.

Services will be held privately.

Arrangements are under the direction of the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes of 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs (584-5373).

In lieu of flowers, contribution to The Community Hospice of Saratoga, St. Peter's Hospital Foundation, 310 S. Manning Boulevard Albany, NY 12208 are appreciated.
