Saratoga Springs, NY - Brian Joseph Reilly, died on April 13, 2024 at age 82, peacefully at home with his wife and daughters by his side.
Brian was born on May 20, 1941 in Queens, New York to Francis and Anne (nee Clancy) Reilly. Brian graduated from Grover Cleveland High School in 1959 and served in the United States Air Force until 1963, traveling the world and spending 2 years living in Okinawa, Japan. Brian next joined the New York City Police Department, serving for many years in the 107th Precinct in Queens before moving to the 90th Precinct in Brooklyn, from which he retired as a sergeant. While working full-time as a police officer, Brian attended the New York Institute of Technology, graduating with a B.S. in 1980. Brian and Connie raised their daughters on Long Island in the close knit town of Kings Park, where he made lifetime friendships, before moving to Saratoga Springs to be closer to the mountains he loved so much.
Brian is survived by his wife of 57 years, Connie (nee Samios) Reilly; daughters Laura Reilly of Washington, D.C. and Melissa (nee Reilly) Taylor (Dennis) of Ballston Spa, New York; and grandchildren Jennifer Taylor, Shawn Taylor (Jamie), Edwin Reilly, Jake Taylor, Ben Taylor and Dulce Reilly.
In the late 1970s, with the help of friends and family, Brian designed and built his dream vacation home in Hillsdale, New York. Brian loved the Adirondack Mountains and was proud to have summited all 46 of its highest peaks. He loved skiing, canoeing, hiking, biking and camping. For years, the Adirondack Mountain Club and the Wilton YMCA were his social centers.
Brian was a devoted husband, father and grandfather ("Pops"). He was a patriot who loved his country fiercely. And over the years, he was a devoted dog dad to his 4 beloved Siberian Huskies: Nikki, Teddy, Shadow and Smokey.
Friends and family are invited to attend an interment with military honors, that will be held at 10:00AM, on Monday, May 20th, at the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY 12831.
Arrangements are under the direction of the William J. Burke & Sons/ Bussing and Cunniff Funeral Home, 628 N. Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
