Obituary

Saratoga Springs, NY - Candace (Candy) L. Petralia, 65, died suddenly on Wednesday, March 1, 2017.  Candy was born April 12, 1951 in Saratoga Springs and was a lifelong resident.  A graduate of Saratoga Springs High School, Candy worked as a Senior Administrative Assistant in the Food Stamps Department of Saratoga County Social Services for over 30 years, retiring in 2006.

Candy enjoyed life and always had a positive attitude.  She took everything in stride and never let the downs in life dampen her beautiful inner light.  She enjoyed quilting with her daughter and beloved friends at KC Framing and Fabrics, gardening, tole painting, watching the birds she fed outside her front window and going for car rides.  The most important thing for Candy was to be with her family; she loved her time with John and Amy.  She was a lifelong animal lover who took in many strays over the years.  She was a beautiful, compassionate and kind woman who always had time to listen, lend a hand or give a hug.  Anyone who had the privilege of meeting or knowing her would tell you how much richer their life was as a result.  She will be greatly missed and will always be a part of our hearts and our lives.

Candy married John E. Petralia on September 16, 1972 and they were happily married for 44 years.   Candy is preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Marion Priester; her brothers Dean R. and Russell Jr. and her in-law's, John, Sr. and Sophie Petralia.

Survivors include her husband, John; daughter, Amy; sister, Kimberly (Brad) Saville, wonderful family friend, Myrna Hall, all of Saratoga Springs as well as, her brothers and sisters in law, many nieces, nephews, cousins and great friends.  Candy is also survived by her two cats, Emmett and Jasper and her 2 furry nieces, Mollie and Georgia, who she loved to spoil as often as she could.

Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 7pm Monday, March 6, 2017 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing and Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 N. Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at St. Clements Roman Catholic Church, 231 Lake Ave. and burial will follow in the family plot at Greenridge Cemetery, Lincoln Ave.  There will be a reception at the Principessa Elena, 13 Oak St. starting at noon.
