Saratoga Springs, NY - Carmel T. (Vignola) Biffer, formerly of Washington St., passed away Saturday (Dec. 5, 2009) at Schuyler Ridge Residential Health Care Facility in Clifton Park. She was 95. Born on July 13, 1914 in Albany, NY, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Carmel (DeMarco) Vignola and educated in the Albany city school system. A former employee of the Van Raalte Company in Saratoga Springs, Carmel was a communicant of the Church of St. Peter and an active member of Court McLaughlin 422 Catholic Daughters of the Americas for many years. She was a longtime and active member of the Saratoga Springs community for all her adult life. She will be remembered for her calm, generous and loving disposition and will be missed by her family and many friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Lewis J. Biffer. Survivors include her sister, Catherine (Eugene) Fisch of Niskayuna and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 6pm Tuesday (Dec. 8, 2009) at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway (584-5373). Members of the Catholic Daughters will meet at 5pm Tuesday at the funeral home for services. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30am Wednesday in the Church of St. Peter, 241 Broadway. Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Peter's Cemetery, West Ave. The family acknowledges the comforting care she received from the staff of the Home of the Good Shepherd in Saratoga Springs, the Schuyler Ridge Residential Health Care Facility as well as the support given by Community Hospice of Saratoga.
