Saratoga Springs, NY- Carol Bidwell Hammond, 89 of Malta Ave Ext. in Ballston Spa, NY passed away on August 26, 2024 after a long illness at Wesley Nursing Home in Saratoga Springs surrounded by her loving family.

Carol was born February 26,1935 in Saratoga Springs, NY the daughter of John Eichler & Bernice Bidwell and the granddaughter of Alma Graves Bidwell.

Carol graduated from Saratoga Springs High School in 1953. Her classmates from the class of 1953 were very close and always maintained regular reunions throughout the years. Carol was a lifetime resident of the Saratoga area.

Carol married James F. Carr in 1956 in Saratoga Springs, NY at St. Peter's Church. They divorced in 1979. Carol then met Fred Hammond and on a very special day, August 8, 1988, they were wed. Fred and Carol enjoyed their home on Malta Ave, gardening, collecting antiques and spending time with their friends and family.

Carol worked for the New York Telephone Company – took time off in the 1960's to have a family and then rejoined the workforce in 1976 working for Stewart's and then she took a position with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation where she retired after 20 plus years in Water resources.

Carol especially loved gardening, buying gifts for her family and hosting holiday dinners. Carol had many challenges in her life but she was always the most giving, caring and fun lady to be around.

Remaining to cherish Carol's memory are her husband, Fred Hammond; her son James A. Carr (Judith) of Greenfield Center her grandchildren, Andrew J. Carr of Greenfield Center, Hannah K. Carr (Jamie) of Troy, NY, her sister Joanne Barella of Saratoga Springs, NY, and an extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

Preceding Carol in death are her sister Nancy White and her stepbrothers David Lundgren and Gerald Lundgren.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday September 3, 2024 from 10:00 AM to Noon followed by a funeral home service at Noon at the William J. Burke & Sons Funeral Home at 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866. Burial will follow at Dunning Street Rural Cemetery in Malta, NY.
