Obituary

Ballston Spa, NY - Carol R. (Bryant) Lane, formerly of Saratoga Springs, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 7, 2014 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. She is 69. Born on Dec. 18, 1944 in Saratoga Springs, she is a daughter of the late Walter C. and Ruth E. (Bush) Bryant and a 1962 graduate of the former St. Peter's Academy. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by one sister, Patricia Bryant Villa, who died in 1978. She is survived by her husband and best friend of 49 years, John T. "Jack" Lane, whom she married on May 1, 1965; two daughters, Anne Lane (Tom Smith) and Amy (Kevin) Tichenor; one son, Joshua (Kelly) Lane and her granddaughter, Samantha Lane. Carol and Sam shared a unique bond and cherished every moment they spent together. Carol is also survived by her constant companion, Rosie, the family dog. Other survivors include her brother, (Ret.) Lt. Colonel Michael (Charlene) Bryant of Oakton, VA; two sisters, Maureen (Kevin) McDonnell of Fort Mill, SC and Ellen (Robert) Boyce of Saratoga Springs and several nieces and nephews. Carol's extended family also includes the more than 25 children she cared for over the years. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Carol's life from 4 to 7pm Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing and Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs 584-5373. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am Thursday in the Church of St. Peter, 241 Broadway. Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Peter's Cemetery, West Ave. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Patrick Timmins and the staff at Women's Cancer Care Associates, the staff at St. Peter's Hospital 6 McCauley and St. Peter's Infusion Suite, Dr. Dennis Rassias and the staff of Albany Thoracic and Esophageal Surgery, along with Kim Praught, owner of Black Iris Florist.
