Obituary

Wilton, NY- Carol D. Maynard, a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and cherished friend to many, passed away on Friday, October 23, 2026, at the age of 82. She was born on April 28, 1944, in Albany, New York, to the late Peter Henstenberg and Anna Osbonlighter Henstenberg.

Early in her career, Carol worked locally at Saratoga Knitting Mill and Saratoga ARC. She then became widely known for her dedication to public service, first being elected Deputy Town Clerk of Wilton in 1993, and later elected Town Clerk in 2002. She held this position until her retirement in 2012.

Above all, Carol’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her four children: Peter R. Maynard (Cindy) of Port Charlotte, Florida; Kimberly L. Noonan of Mechanicville; Michelle D. O’Brien of Gansevoort; and Bonnie Jean Wilson (Matt Levanites) of New Port Richey, Florida. Her legacy further continues through her 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in her life.

Carol is also survived by her sisters, Mary Nitchman, Shirley Krappman (Jack), and Debbie Barrett (Jerry), as well as her sister-in-law, Della Henstenberg.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Ronald L. Maynard, whom she married in June 1961 and passed away in October 2008; daughter, Kathleen A. Salisbury; brothers, Joseph Henstenberg and Thomas McElroy; sister, Emmaline McElroy Capone; and son-in-law, Peter Noonan

Carol enjoyed reading, gardening, researching her family genealogy, shopping, and, most of all, spending time with her family. She also treasured the companionship of her three beloved furbabies, Abby, Felix, and Gemma.

There will be no calling hours.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday October 31st at South Wilton Cemetery, Route 50, Saratoga Springs, New York. This will be followed by a celebration of life at 5 Bliven Way, Saratoga Springs, New York.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Saratoga County Animal Shelter, 6010 County Farm Road, Ballston Spa, NY 12020, and/or the Wilton Emergency Squad, Harran Lane, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.

Arrangements are under the direction of the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway.
