Obituary

Malta, NY - Carol L. Nichols, of Route 9P, joined her beloved parents in Heaven on Friday (Aug. 14, 2009) at Saratoga Hospital, after a short illness. She was 63. Born on July 25, 1946 in Saratoga Springs, she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Elsie M. (Weatherwax) VanWagner and a graduate of Saratoga Springs High School. She had worked for the Civil Department in the Saratoga County Sheriff's Office, Bon-Fare and at the Exit 15 Mobil On The Run for many years. An avid bowler for over 20 years, she was a member and past president of the High Roc Lanes Half and Half Bowling league. She was also an avid Dallas Cowboys and Jeff Gordon fan. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by one brother, Martin Cooper and two sisters, Beverly Allen and Elizabeth Kenyon. Survivors include her husband of 42 years, Town of Malta Judge James R. Nichols, Sr.; her son, James R. (Marla Jo) Nichols, Jr., Town of Moreau, NY; her sisters and brothers, Barbara (Raymond) Arnold of Middle Grove, Raymond F. (Marianne) VanWagner of Schenectady, Robert (Audrey) Cooper of Halifax, VA, Pauline Cooper and Patricia Jackson, both of Saratoga Springs; her grandson, Justin James ("JJ") Nichols; several nieces and nephews, her best friend, Laura MacIntosh, along with her numerous special friends at Mobil On The Run. Relatives and friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8pm Tuesday (Aug. 18, 2009) at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway (584-5373), Saratoga Springs. Funeral services will be conducted at 10am Wednesday at the Burke/Bussing Funeral Home and burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Weibel Avenue. The family wishes to thank the staff on A-3 staff, nurses and doctors at Saratoga Hospital for their kindness, care and attention to Carol.
