Ballston Spa, NY – Carrie A. Smith passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at the Saratoga Center for Rehab and Skilled Nursing. She was 93.

Born September 5, 1923 on the family farm on Brant Lake, Horicon, NY, she was the daughter of the late Dwight S. and Marian (Wells) Purvee. As a young girl, the family moved to another farm in Wells, VT.  Carrie spent most of her life in Saratoga Springs. She was a hairdresser and owned and operated Frank's Salon on Phila Street for many years. Carrie was a happy, friendly person and well-liked by all who knew her. She and her husband Chuck loved spending time together as well as socializing with their loving family and many friends. Dressing up and wearing jewelry was always one of Carrie's favorite things to do. She also enjoyed short trips with the Senior citizens and long trips with her family. Along with listening to music and reading, Carrie enjoyed all kinds of card games including mah-jong. For many years Carrie attended the Wilton Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Carrie was predeceased by her husband Charles (Chuck) Smith who passed away in 1991; her siblings, Clarence, Mertie, Clifton, Vivian, Elwin and Daniel.

Survivors include her brother Wilford Purvee and his wife Barbara of Texas and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews and great-great-great nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call from 11:30am to 12:30pm on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway (584-5373). A funeral service will be celebrated at 12:30pm at the funeral home.

Burial will follow in the family plot at Greenridge Cemetery, Lincoln Avenue.
