Saratoga Springs, NY - Catherine A. Gratton, 93, was called to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 3, 2011. She passed away unexpectedly in her home that she loved. Born May 8, 1917 in Saratoga Springs, she was predeceased by her husband George W. Gratton and her son George, Jr. Catherine lived life to the fullest every day. She was co-owner of Gratton's Paint & Hardware, past Grand Regent of the Catholic Daughters of America, life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Saratoga Lodge #161 BPOE and past member of Sweet Adelines. She also was a certified instructor of Beginner's Sewing for Adult Education at Saratoga High School and during World War II was a member of NYS Civil Defense Commission. During her retirement years, Catherine enjoyed her family, her home and her beautiful gardens which were appreciated by everyone who came to visit her. She was also an avid artist. Survivors include her children, Patricia Gratton, Frank Gratton and his wife Marian and Catherine Gratton. She will also be dearly missed by her seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter and many nieces, nephews and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30am Thursday, April 7, 2011 at St. Clement's Church, 231 Lake Ave. by the Rev. Neil Draves-Arpaia.
