Catherine Hill

Cathy Hill passed away on February 1, 2026 surrounded by her family. Her sudden passing was due to complications from underlying health conditions. Her friends and family are deeply saddened by her passing.

She was born in Scotland and moved to America as a child. She was the eldest of 3 children and the foundation of her family. Cathy was a role model and guiding light to her sons, siblings, and the rest of her family.

Cathy was a teacher, lawyer, entrepreneur, and mom. She graduated with a BA from UAlbany and a JD from Albany Law School. She loved teaching and spent her favorite working years as a professor at Skidmore College, inspiring and educating young students on entrepreneurship and sustainability.

She loved her family and was a tireless advocate and caregiver for her husband during his fight with cancer last year.

Anyone lucky enough to know Cathy is better because of it. She was kind, caring, indomitable, and a force of nature. She will be greatly missed.

Cathy is survived by three sons and their partners, Caleb and his partner Emily, Aidan and his wife Stephanie, Ethan and his partner Christina, and her granddaughter, Nadia. She is also lovingly remembered by her siblings, Jimmy and Carol, nieces and nephews, Sarah, Amanda, and Liam, and her dog, Tala. She is preceded by her husband of 36 years Jared Snyder who she will join forevermore.

In lieu of flowers Cathy would request donations to be made in her name to the Glioblastoma Foundation.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2026, from 12-1 EDT at the Gannett Auditorium at Skidmore College (815 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866) with a reception to follow. Please join us to celebrate the extraordinary life Cathy lived and the legacy she has left behind.
