Stillwater, NY – Catherine Mildred "Mooie" (DeCelle) Schell passed away peacefully on Friday, December 11, 2020 at the age of 95.
Born in Mechanicville on November 9, 1925, she was the oldest of the 13 children born to the late Alfred and Cecelia (Baker) DeCelle and is survived by siblings Patricia, Beverly, Madeline, Elizabeth, Carol, and Gail.
On April 17, 1945, upon his return from the Navy and through his cousin, Mildred met Warren Schell of Altamont on a blind date. Warren and Mildred were married on August 10, 1947 in Mechanicville, where they initially resided before settling in Stillwater to raise their three daughters.
Throughout her career, Mildred was employed as an administrative assistant within the Auditors Division of General Electric in Schenectady and at the Mechanicville dental offices of Doctors Gleason & Oliver, and Doctor Clarke. Mildred also served as a clerk to Town of Stillwater Justices Caswell, Dantz, and Petronis and within the town water department.
In addition to her parents, Mildred was predeceased by Warren, her husband of 72 years; sons-in-law Tom Antolick and Fred Stay; great-grandson Colby Batchelder; sisters Mary, Ceil, and Shirley; and brothers Robert, William, and Frederick.
In addition to her siblings, Mildred is survived by daughters Kathy Antolick (Peter McLaughlin), Patty Stay, Sharon (Jeff) Mahar; grandchildren Susan (Dave) Morrison, Scott (Tara) Antolick, Kristen (Charles Smith) Batchelder, Toby (Joanna) Stay, Taylor (Bev) Stay, Shane (Amanda) Mahar, Brady (Donna) Mahar, and Trevor Stay; great-grandchildren Scott Carter Antolick, Jordan Lichtenberger, Elizabeth Batchelder, Jesse and Tanner Stay, Evan and Keegan Antolick, Easton and Zyler Stay, and Jack, Emma, Nina, and Lana Mahar.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Eddy Heritage House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and St. Peter's Hospital for their tender care.
There will be no calling hours. A memorial mass will be held on a future date.
Burial will be private at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
