Obituary

Saratoga Springs - Cecelia L. Hughes passed away Saturday September 26, 2009 at Saratoga Hospital. She was 93. Born September 30, 1915 in Greenfield Center, she was the daughter of the late John and Katherine Sesselman Krappman. Cecelia worked in the cafeteria at the Caroline Street School and Skidmore College. She was a charter and lifetime member of the Saratoga-Wilton Elks Lodge BPOE #161 Ladies Auxiliary. Cecelia loved to bowl, enjoyed knitting, ceramics, playing cards and bingo. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers; Larry, John and Fred Krappman and one sister, Marge Quinn. Cecelia is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Earl Hughes of Saratoga Springs, two daughters; Janet Bennett and her husband James of Saratoga Springs, Diane Lang and her husband William of Villa Rica, GA., one sister; Betty Williams of Ballston Spa, five grandchildren, four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call from 5 to 8pm Thursday, October 1, 2009 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway (584-5373). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30am Friday, October 2, 2009 at St. Clement's Church, 231 Lake Ave. The Rev. Neil Draves-Arpaia will officiate. Burial will be in the family plot at St. Peter's Cemetery, West Ave. Memorial in Cecelia's name may be made to Maplewood Manor Resident Fund, 149 Ballston Ave., Ballston Spa, NY 12020.
