IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Cecile
Gutchell
August 16, 1932 – April 12, 2022
Saratoga Springs, NY- Cecile Gutchell of 5 Jordan Drive North, Saratoga Springs, NY died peacefully in the early hours of Tuesday April 12, 2022, at St. Peter's Hospital, following complications from a fall.
Cecile was born in Hardwick, VT, on August 16, 1932, to beloved parents Rosaire and Alice Renaud. She was the second of 15 children and spoke fondly of family life on a farm in a French Canadian community filled with singing voices and many expressions of love. As a very young woman, she bravely ventured to Versailles and Israel, caring for the children of US Ambassador Ogden Reid Jr. and his wife Mary Louise. Cecile was an honor student and graduated from the Fanny Allen Hospital School of Practical Nursing. She enjoyed working as an LPN. In 1961 she married her husband Gary Gutchell of Burlington, VT and together they raised their five children. Cecile and Gary spent many fond vacations together in Ogunquit, Maine enjoying the wonderful company of family. Cecile is remembered as a kind, gracious person, mother, friend, sister, neighbor, and colleague. She and her husband Gary are remembered for making delicious food and welcoming family and friends to gather, eat, and enjoy.
Cecile was predeceased by her daughter, Jennifer Gutchell, by five of her siblings, by three of her sisters- in-law, and by members of their families, all of whom she cherished.
She is survived by her husband Gary Gutchell, her daughters Kathryn LeCours, Emily Gutchell, and Veronica Gutchell, and her son Matthew Gutchell. In the last year of her life, in addition to the care of her children who loved her deeply, Cecile received a bounty of expert care and warm respect from caregivers of Home Instead, and from the Saratoga team of The Community Hospice.
