Charles L Burling (Chuck) died suddenly on December 9, 2023. Born 11/18/43 in Kenasaw Nebraska. A resident of Gansevoort NY and Saratoga Springs NY from 1991 through 2013 who settled in York, PA in 2019.

Beloved husband of Wanda, Brother of Eldon, Stepfather of Elia D. Filippone (Daughter in law Stacey), Grandfather to Isabella and Nataelia Filippone. Son in law of Opal Jania Brother-in-law of Deana Bennett (David) and Family James and Christina Bean (Alicia and Charlie), father of John Burling (Victoria and Zachary) and Karen Fought (Derek and Ethan). Mr. Burling is also survived by his many nieces and nephews.

Pre-deceased by his parents William (Erwin) and Velma Burling, Wife Lyn Burling, Sister Marilyn Hinkel and Stepson Nicholas J. Filippone.

Mr. Burling was a graduate of the University of Nebraska and worked for State Farm Insurance before retiring in 2004.

A quiet gentleman, with a heart of gold, always willing to help another. Chuck enjoyed watching Nebraska Football – and discussing the team and coaching with his brother. Other interests included Ham Radio, woodworking and carving, fountain pens and calligraph, reading, music and stain glassing. An avid traveler, who especially loved cruising and visiting the Farm in Virginia, taking part in the coffee and dessert hour shared in the evenings with Opal Jania, Joseph, Frances, and Lee Huddleston. He found his most precious time spent with his wife Wanda, just relaxing, talking, and enjoying each day with her and his granddaughters. He loved hearing his granddaughters say, "Where's Grandpa" and having them run up to him and give him a big hug, which always brought a smile to his face. Chuck believed that it was not things that made you happy, but the people you chose to surround yourself with.

Relatives and Friends are invited to call from 10am to 11am with a funeral home service to follow on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at the William J. Burke & Sons/ Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Home, 628 N. Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY.  Burial will follow in Greenridge Cemetery, Lincoln Ave.
