Ballston Spa, NY - Charles Frank Coville passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009, after battling cancer for a year. He was 71. Born on July 20, 1938 in Scotia, NY he was the son of the late David M. and Nellie L. Coville. He was also predeceased by five brothers and three sisters. Chuck was a lifelong horseman and enjoyed a distinguished career in the harness horse industry. He began his career in his teens, working as a groom for his father. At age 15 he began driving at local fairs including Cobleskill and Altamont Fairgrounds. Chuck trained, drove, and owned racehorses from the 1950's to 1990's. He raced his stable of horses along the east coast, primarily at Saratoga Harness, Vernon Downs, Foxboro Raceway, Dover Downs, Pompano Park and Rockingham Park. Chuck is a fifth generation horseman in the Coville family tradition, which began in England in the 1400's. In addition to the horses, one of the greatest joys in Chuck's life was spending time with family and friends. His love and compassion for others was evident to anyone who met him. He truly was an extraordinary man. Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Pamela Coville of Ballston Spa; his children, Terry Almy of Milford, NH, Kelly Colen of Amherst, NH, Jesse Coville of N. Lauderdale, FL, Charles D. Coville of Brownfield, ME, Randall Coville of Harstad, Norway, Bret Coville of Saratoga Springs, Heath Coville of Vernon, NY, Jennifer Way of Wilton, NH and Jarrett Coville of Rochester, NH; twelve grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters Nellie Coville of Wilton, NY and Etta Schultz of Schoharie, NY. Relatives and friends may call from 5 to 7pm Friday, Nov. 20, 2009 at the First Presbyterian Church, West High St., Ballston Spa. Funeral services will be 10am Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009 at the church with the Rev. David Bennett, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the family plot at Greenridge Cemetery, Lincoln Ave., Saratoga Springs Arrangements are under the direction of the William J.
