IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charles
Furey
January 2, 1928 – November 14, 2021
Saratoga Springs - After 93 wonderful years and a lifetime of serving others in many roles, Charles Joseph Furey Sr. died on Saturday November 13, 2021 surrounded by his family. Born on January 2, 1928, he was the son of the late Charles Furey and Helen Laing Furey.
After serving in the US Army in WWII he took over Furey Oil from his father and operated it for 25 years. He later worked for Saratoga County in social services and HEAP. After his retirement from the county he and Audrey moved to Palm Bay Florida where he continued to serve his community through the St. Vincent dePaul Society at Our Lady of Grace Parish and Daily Bread Soup Kitchen. In 2002 they moved back to the Saratoga area and lived in Wilton Commons where he had many close friends who will miss his kindness and friendship.
Charlie was a humble man who knew only love and forgiveness. He was a living example of what it meant to walk in the footsteps of Christ - every day. He was THE BEST and he managed to find the best in each person he encountered. There are countless people who were made better for having known Charlie Furey.
He was predeceased by "the best decision" and love of his life Audrey Waring Furey, his sister Mary Pitney, 3 infant children Richard, Edward, and Neil, his grandchildren Alyssa Annie Furey, Timmy Furey and his great grandson Jeremy Furey. He is survived by his seven sons, Charles J., Jr. of Saratoga Springs, Dennis (Mary) of Copperas Cove Texas, Gerard (Nancy) Niskayuna, Richard (Elaine) of Enfield, CT, Joseph (Leah) of Roxbury, CT, John of Saratoga Springs and Paul of Greenfield Center; four daughters; Anne (Edward) Moore of Saratoga Springs, Beth (Bob) Carlton of Barrington, NH, Geralyn (James) Ruhle of Saratoga Springs and Julie (Mark) Leffler of Wilton; 26 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren.
