IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charles "Skip"
Hoffman
September 13, 1957 – October 26, 2025
Charles "Skip" Hoffman, 68, of Saratoga Springs, passed away peacefully in his home after a brief illness on October 26, 2025. Skip leaves behind a legacy of laughter, kindness, and connections. He was a devoted fan of sports, with baseball close to his heart. Skip's love of baseball began in Little League, where he made the All-Star team and discovered a lifelong passion for the game. He went on to play for St. Peter's High School, where he refined his pitching for the Saints and built friendships that lasted a lifetime.
Skip loved spending summer days at the Saratoga Raceway, surrounded by the people he cared for most. Even in the offseason, he could often be found at the harness track or the Racino, still admiring the horses and the atmosphere he loved.
Skip loved to cook, taking pride in feeding the people he cared about most. His joy came from seeing others enjoy what he made, a reflection of the same generosity that guided his years in the service and restaurant industry. For him, food was a universal language — a way to connect, give, and bring a little happiness to those around him. His youthful spirit and easy humor touched everyone he met, and his memory will live on in the stories and smiles he leaves behind.
He is survived by his wife and partner of 43 years, Jean (Sowalsky) Hoffman, of Saratoga Springs; and their son, Dr. Michael Hoffman, of Rochester, New York; his father, Charlie Hoffman, of Saratoga Springs; and sister Patti (Hoffman) DeLone, of Gaithersburg, Maryland; as well as several nieces, nephews, and dear friends who enriched his life. He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara (Hoffman) Villmore, and his sister, Bonnie (Hoffman) Johnson.
