Wilton, NY - Charles Reid McCrossan, age 86, formerly of Norwood, MA, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2011. Born in Somerville, MA, he was the son of the late Dr. Charles and Alice (Reid) McCrossan. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Mary (Cullinane) and sister, Margaret Benson. Charles was a Navy Veteran of WWII and a graduate of Tufts University, '49. He was employed 38 years as an Analytic Chemist for the National Research Corporation in Cambridge and Newton, MA. A talented musician, Charles played the piano, trombone, and euphonium. He was a member of the St. Timothy Choir in Norwood, MA, for over 25 years. Throughout his life he was an active member of many musical groups, including the Tufts University Concert Band, the Wellesley (MA) Symphony, the Neponset Choral Society, the Concord (MA) Symphony, the Mattapoisett ( MA) Regional Symphonic Band, the Norwood (MA) Musicians Union, the Saratoga Springs (NY) Union Band, and his most recent association as a proud charter member of the Ballston Spa (NY) Community Band. Charles was the loving father of Francis and his wife Patricia of North Kingstown, RI, and Cambridge, MA, Stephen and his wife Kathleen of Medfield, MA, and Mia and her husband Gregory Pfitzer, with whom he made his home. Cherished grandfather of Meaghan, Matthew, Patrick, & Mary Beth McCrossan and Daniel, Caroline, & Gregory McCrossan and Michael & Sally Pfitzer. He also leaves his brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Paul, Vera & Barbara Cullinane and nephews, Paul Cullinane & Christopher Cullinane. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30am Friday, Nov. 18, 2011 at St. Clement's Church, 231 Lake Ave by the Rev. Timothy F. Keating, C.Ss.R.
