Malta, NY - Christopher D. Harvey, 27, died on Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012 in a fatal car accident on I-87. Born on Oct. 9, 1984 in Newburyport, MA he was the son of Tammy Somers and David Harvey. Christopher moved to New York when he was 2 years old and before residing in Malta, had previously lived in Albany, Saratoga Springs, Troy and Guilderland. He had many different occupations throughout his life but what he enjoyed most was cooking. He would cook whenever and for whomever he could. Next to cooking he loved spending time at his favorite place, Thatcher Park. Chris faced many hardships growing up but through it all he gained an immense amount of strength, knowledge, courage and personality that touched everyone. Chris is survived by his fiancé, Kayla N. Scolamiero and their unborn daughter Sophia Gisile Harvey; their family dog Biggie; his soon to be in-laws, Peter and Valerie Scolamiero, Christian, Niko and Olivia Scolamiero. The excitement for his new family is what kept him going. Chris is also survived by his mother Tammy Somers and stepfather Howard Masterson; brother Sean Wood; nephew Sean Neil Wood; sisters Chaundra Harvey and Courtney Somers-Wood; nephews Aiden Christopher and Liam Michael Doty. To everyone who knew Christopher, he had an uplifting spirit and huge heart. He will be sorely missed and loved by many. A piece of him will always live on in his daughter Sophia. Relatives and friends may call from 11am to 1pm Monday, Aug. 27, 2012 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs (584-5373) for a celebration of Chris's life. A funeral service will follow at 1pm at the funeral home.
