Niskayuna, NY - Dana A. Thompson, 59, formerly of Saratoga and Ballston Spa, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013. Dana was born on June 5, 1954 and grew up in Ballston Spa. He was the youngest son of Daniel Thompson and Agnes Jurcsak Thompson. Dana was an avid fisherman and hunter and spent many hours passing his knowledge of the outdoors to his son, Michael. His greatest joy came from spending time in the woods or on the lake. Dana was most recently employed by Allerdice Hardware in their Milton store. Survivors include his loving wife of 31 years, Gerri Thompson; his son, Michael Thompson and fiancée, Megan Kirsten; grandchildren, Justin Kirsten and Ava Thompson; sister, Marian (Maurice) VanHall of Meridian, Idaho; brother, Mark (Jeannie) Thompson of Troy, Ohio and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call from 4:30pm to 6:30pm Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs. Funeral services will be conducted at 6:30pm at the funeral home.
