Saratoga Springs, NY - David J. Flynn, Jr. passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Monday, October 28, 2013. Born in Ballston Spa, NY on March 13, 1937, he was the son of the late David J. Flynn and Dorothy Furlong Flynn. Dave was a graduate of St. Peter's Academy, class of 1956. He proudly served in the US Marine Corps from 1956-1959, serving aboard the USS Rockbridge. He worked for the NYS Canal System, the F. Donald Myers Education Center BOCES of Saratoga as a Financial Coordinator and retired from the Capital Region BOCES of Albany as a Financial Coordinator in 1994. Then after a short stay at home, Dave went to work for the NYS Unified Court System in Ballston as a court officer. He was involved in scouting for almost 20 years, Scoutmaster for Troop 13 in Schuylerville for 3 of those years. He was a past member of the Marine Corps League in Saratoga. Dave's greatest joy in life was his son and his grandchildren. He would light up when he saw them. He also enjoyed the time spent with his nieces, nephews and godchildren. Dave and his wife loved travelling and did many road trips and cruises. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sons, David Scott and infant twin sons David J. III and Daniel. Survivors include his wife of 50 years Donna Lou (Badger); his son Dennis M. Flynn and grandchildren, Daniel James, Ashley Elizabeth and Amber Nicole all of Gansevoort; his brother John F. (Donna)Flynn and their children Donald (Paula)Flynn, Sandra (Bill)Blackburn, Janice Hoskinson all of Glenrock, WY; sister-in-law Sandra (Richard) Bradley of Ballston Spa and their children Jayme (Ken) Jones of Ballston Spa and Julie (Eric) Milanese of West Sand Lake. Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 7pm Friday, Nov. 1, 2013 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs (584-5373). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am Monday, Nov. 4, 2013 at St. Clement's Church, 231 Lake Ave. by the Rev. David Blake and burial with military honors will follow at 12noon at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
